The Town of
Marana, Pima County and Cottonwood
Properties are jointly developing over
25 miles of hiking trails in the Tortolita Mountains and its
surrounding desert leading into Wild
Burro Canyon. At this point about 15
miles of trails in the Canyon are almost
complete with the remaining canyon
trails to be completed by the summer of
2007. By summer of 2007, the completed
trails will be signed, and new trail
maps will be available. A temporary
Trail Head has been built on the
northwest corner of Dove Mountain
Boulevard and the Wild Burro Wash.

The premier hiking
trails in Wild Burro Canyon run on or
near the top of the western and eastern
ridges of the Canyon and lead into
Tortolita Mountain Park. In the future
desert trails will be constructed from
Tangerine and I-10, through the
Tortolita Preserve and into Wild Burro
Canyon.
The town of Marana
is spearheading the trail building using
paid contractors and volunteers from the
Heritage Highlands and the Dove Mountain
area.
