The Sonoran Desert

Heritage Highlands is located in the northwest area of the Sonoran Desert, famous for its Saguaro cacti which are unique to this area.  The term “desert” belies what the Sonoran is.  Summer monsoon rains from July through September - with their magnificent lightening shows - create lush flowers on native cacti, plants and trees each spring.  Mild winters produce more blooms.  The Sonoran is alive with colors that defy description and wildlife that abound – from Bobcats to the funny Javelinas, hawks to hummingbirds and glorious butterflies in colors to match the vibrant flowers.

The climate is conducive to outdoor living and activities year-round.  Average temperatures range from 64 degree highs and 38 degree lows in January to 98 degree highs and 84 degree lows in June.  Average rainfall is less than one foot per year and 3,800 hours of sunshine yearly make the area popular for sports and recreation.
